The book on social movements progresses…

16 Jul

Slowly but surely. It has made me so busy, however, that I haven’t had time to write anything for the Global Kiosk. Even the interesting developments in the factory take-over movement in Argentina has yet to see the light of my observations.

At the moment I am going through my chapters on the Peasant Union of Indonesia. While doing so, I discovered a fascinating new book by investigative journalist, Mark Dowie. He is a co-founder of Mother Jones magazine and his latest book is called Conservation Refugees: The One-Hundred-Year Conflict Between Global Conservation and Native Peoples. It was published last May by MIT Press and deserves the world’s attention.
